Three for-profit vendors selling cryptographic/confidential-computing cross-company data collaboration — the closest commercial analogs to SINE’s technical space, though targeting different verticals.
Decentriq
Zurich, for-profit. Uses confidential computing (hardware enclaves) rather than pure MPC for cross-company clean rooms, targeting advertising/ media, pharma, and financial services. Raised a $15M Series A (March 2022, Eclipse Ventures-led), after an earlier ~$5M round (Atlantic Labs, btov Partners, Paladin Capital).
Duality Technologies
US (NJ/NYC), for-profit, homomorphic-encryption-based. Co-founded by Turing Award laureate Shafi Goldwasser, plus Vinod Vaikuntanathan and Kurt Rohloff. Raised a $16M Series A (Oct 2019, Intel Capital-led) and a $30M Series B (2021, LG Technology Ventures-led). Targets banking, healthcare, and government/defense.
Habu
Was an independent VC-backed data-clean-room orchestration startup targeting marketing/advertising — acquired by LiveRamp in January 2024 for ~$200M (~$170M cash+stock, plus $16M retention stock). No longer an independent company; now a LiveRamp product line.
Cross-cutting read
All three sell proprietary access to a for-profit vendor’s own infrastructure — customers trust the vendor’s platform and business continuity, not a neutral consortium, which is the core structural difference from SINE’s open-source/consortium-governed model. Their primary markets (ad-tech, pharma, financial compliance) are largely adjacent to, not overlapping with, SINE’s sustainability/carbon-data niche; no evidence found that any of the three has moved into Scope 3/DPP/ESG reporting as a primary vertical (Duality’s banking/defense angle could plausibly extend there — not confirmed). The Habu→LiveRamp acquisition is a consolidation signal worth tracking: independent clean-room vendors are being absorbed into larger platforms as this market matures, which could eventually produce a well-capitalized entrant into sustainability-data clean rooms specifically, encroaching on SINE’s current niche from the for-profit side.
